The brief

The house underwent a major programme of restructuring with new kitchen, bathrooms and the reconfiguration of the first floor bedrooms. We worked in close collaboration with the owners and builder over the duration of the project. Our design role during this project included specification of lighting, lighting design, colour schemes, soft furnishings and advice on the purchasing of new furniture.

My Approach

It was important that this beautiful period property set in the heart of the Chew Valley should reflect its heritage, although using a light touch. The design scheme is a fresh take on English countryside style, with a palette of off whites and dove greys forming a calming backdrop for the clients’ artwork and antiques. Soft grey Zoffany damask was used in the sitting room and dining room and complements the grey stripe of the wallpaper. The damask wallpaper in the hallway provides a soft neutral back drop for dramatic artwork and beautiful Porta Romana lighting.
